Landscape Value:

Tickseed is a flowering herbaceous perennial, native to Eastern North America. It blooms a daisy-like head in thick, bushy clumps and may grow up to 2 to 3 feet tall. Most varieties are yellow, but some have degrees of red coloration around the center of the flower. Threadleaf varietes also provide an airy appearance to a garden as they slowly spread into a colony.

Plant Care:

Tickseed prefers partial shade to full sun in well-draining soils. It prefers sandy or rocky soils, but can adapt to clay if it is well-draining. Being an easy to care for plant, it is tolerant of drought, infertile soil, heat, and humidity. Pruning the plant after blooming will sometimes produce fall flowers. Use this plant in the sunny border or in mass plantings to give your garden a light airy feel. It prefers full sun but can tolerate light shade.

Ideal planting seasons: Spring or Fall
