Watering Guide

OUTDOOR Plants

 March through October (Growing Season)

  • Newly Planted in the ground - should be watered at least twice a week and sometimes daily

    • (variance due to temperature and rainfall) 

    • Volume of water should be equal to the size of the pot     (ex: #5 pot = 5 gallons of water)

    • Once established - water once weekly

  • Containers - should be watered daily and be fully saturated

  • Never let the plant sit in water

November through February (Cool Season)

  • Newly Planted in the ground - rarely need to be watered more than weekly

    • Once established - no extra watering is needed

  • Containers - should be watered 1 to 2 times weekly fully saturated 

  • Never let the plant sit in water

INDOOR Plants

Tropicals -

  • Check the soil in the pot every week

  • Water when it feels slightly dry to the touch

  • Water thoroughly and let water drain out completely until the pot is saturated

  • Never let the plant sit in water

Succulents & Cacti -

  • Check the soil in the pot bi-weekly

  • Water when the soil is dry 1” below the surface

  • Water thoroughly and let water drain out completely until the pot is saturated

  • Never let the plant sit in water
